Like many, I ran a mobile disco from the early 1970s with club residencies being dominant. Hospital radio work during the late 70s and early 80s contrasted disco presentation markably.
I first broadcast recorded shows in the early 90s for Radio Caroline on their only outlet at that time – satellite, and later live from the Radio6 studios in Calais. Mine was the first voice to be heard from a licensed Radio Caroline on 101.8Mhz FM from the Dover RSL in April 1992.
I am always in pursuit of new artists who are not yet mainstream, the rockier – the better. Blues also feature in my programmes. Suggestions from listeners can help to enrich programme content, and so I do welcome feedback; please feel free to drop me a line.
Euphoria would be an understatement when Tony Kirk received a phone call on 24th November 1987 to join Radio Caroline. He remembers that moment well as anyone would when ambition was about to be realised but his excitement was very short-lived when a few hours later the Ross Revenge’s 300-foot high aerial mast collapsed on a very rough North Sea so his journey was put on hold.
